There are two new additions to the 203 Squadron family
Private Merrill (Pictured on the right hand side in the left image) was attested into the British Army on the 15th November by the Squadron OC, Major Knight, at the end of the training evening.
Private Freeman (Pictured on the left hand side of the right image) was attested the following day on the 16th November by the Squadron PSAO, Captain Wing.
What is Attestation?
When someone applies to join the British Army, both Regular and Reserve, they attend a selection centre. When applicants successfully complete selection, they are attested into the British Army, either at the end of their time at selection, or back at their respective unit.
Attestation is where you swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen. This is the final stage of the recruiting procedure, after which you then become a member of the Army Reserve and sign your contract. This comes complete with a £300 welcome bonus; it pays to be part of the British Army.
